MEMORANDUM

To residents of the 300 Block Highwoods Trail and Paloverde Lanes.

Recently we’ve let our guard down and have had a couple of incidents.  Feb 12th we had a break in on Highwoods Trail.  Three black males were seen running from the residence. They jumped into a dark blue 4 door smaller SUV vehicle (with no front license plates) and fled southbound on Highwoods Trail.

Details…to shut down the security system, they had removed the electric meter and threw it on the ground.  Then they threw a brick through the back sliding glass door.  Upon entering the house, the alarm system company called the owner plus a very loud siren went off inside the home (it had a battery backup). Apparently they fled without getting much more than $100.00 cash that was in a box on their dresser.  But they did some $2,000.00 dollars of damage to the residence.

Thanks to an alert neighbor, we have a good description of the perpetrators plus the dark blue 4 door SUV vehicle.  Keep your eyes open while driving.

When the glass man came, he mentioned that just two days before, there was another busted back door just up the street. So far that owner can’t find anything missing; it appears the security system ran them off also.   Anybody with any information you wish to share, just fill out a copy of the attached card and drop in Norm’s mailbox at 316 Paloverde Lane. If you wish, you might even call Norm @ 817-723-1042.

Lessons:

#1.  Keep your backup system batteries as fresh as your fire alarm.

#2.   Include your garage door within in your security system.

#3.    When driving into your garage lower the door before you get out of

the car.  Don’t forget to turn off the engine.  That is dangerous.

Organization Proposal……………………..

Got u’r Back

Looking out for each other...

This proposal is to include the people on both sides of Paloverde Lane and the 300 Block of Highwoods Trail.

We would request from each one, their contact names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses... That way we could easily and quickly communicate when something happens.

The proposal urges each person when driving or walking around the block to take note of what's happening.

1.         Also when leaving home or coming back to the house, make a full circle around the block. Watch for strangers, or vehicles.  If you note something, call the police or your neighbor. Don't just drop it. Decide how to address the situation, call 911 (The Fort Worth Police), call a neighbor or the residents at the house. At a minimum complete a written report form.  Post card size report forms will be provided.  A sample is attached.

 2.        As you drive take note of any parked vehicles or pedestrians. Take a good visual look at the person.  If possible, get a license number, at least note the color, size and the number of doors for each vehicle. Also the number and size of passengers. Next time you go around the block drop off the report in Norm's mail box (316 Paloverde Lane).  Norm will maintain a log of all reports and share with all participants any trends or concerns.  If urgent call the top of a telephone pyramid.

 3.        By sharing and communicating we can address issues before they become serious. We might even run off the bad people before they hurt or harm someone.  By having the phone numbers of your neighbors, we can light up the block by calling our neighbors and informing them of persons going door to door. Particularly after dark, turn on your front lights so they will know we're watching.

4.         I would suggest we consider some type of code (signature) that we could use when answering our phones. Particularly when you can see it's a neighbor. Say when I call and ask if it's 911.  We could answer yes or no. Depending on the situation if we needed help or just answer and listen for the reason for the call.

Please look this over and see how to make it work for you....
